It takes a village to raise a child

The past few weeks have been really tough with Micah. He was so content and easygoing the first two months of his life, but then he started being grumpy and fussy. I was really struggling last weekend (questioning my sanity for thinking that being a parent was a good idea) and with out even telling my family that I needed help, they came to visit…it was such a blessing. It warms my heart to see my brother and sister and parents interact with Micah. One of the cutest things was when my dad was "boxing" with Micah. I wish I had my video camera handy. Micah was just smiling and cooing as the two of them were throwing "punches" back and forth. My mom was her usual 'busy bee' self. She baked buns, cookies and even made us wareneki. I felt so refreshed and renewed by their visit. Here are some pictures from their visit…

Two Months

This past week Micah turned 2 months old. I had to put away his 0-3 month clothes and he has started wearing the next size up. It seems like as soon as I figure something out about Micah or we get into a little pattern, he changes. Here is a two month update.

1) He will smile readily. He will often greet us with a big gin when we go to get him after a nap or in the morning.
2) At 8 weeks he weighed 11 lbs 9ozs.
3) He is cooing more often and has made the sound "Hi".
4) He can hold his head for a little bit and can sit up on the couch for a little while before falling over.
5) When being held up he puts weight on his legs in the standing up pose.
6) He is showing interest in toys.
7) He has gone 6- 7 hours between feeds in the night. I am hopeful that this will start occurring more often.
8) He has started sucking his fist.
9) He seems to recognize our faces and voices.
10) We cannot help but love him more and more each day. We are so blessed.
